Pole Dance Ballet Video

This "pole dance ballet" video is one of the more unusual videos I've seen, because of the music it's set to and the style of the dancing.

The choreography is set to classical music (Pachelbel's Canon) but it definitely works!

And the performer is obviously no newcomer to dance, judging by her flexibility, grace, and body lines.

I would guess she was most likely a ballet dancer in a "former life." Her transition to a vertical style of dance looks good on her though, don't you think?

Beautiful, Ballet-Inspired Pole Dance

In this clip, the dancer is using a rotating dance pole, which is put to really good use during some of her aerial moves.

In fact, some of the speed she picks up on those spins is dizzying...definitely not for the feint of heart!

Some lovely details to watch for in this video are the hand and finger placement - particularly during the moments where she pauses to look at the camera - as well as the smooth transitions to and from the floor.

And don't miss the section starting at about 2:15, in the inverted descent. Here you'll see an excellent example of how the speed of rotation can be controlled by placement of the legs in relation to the center of gravity.

As well, don't miss that gorgeous hair toss when she's almost on the floor - it adds a nice accent to the end of this descent sequence.

Watch and be inspired, but please remember to play safely, and always use a spotter and/or a safety mat when learning difficult or potentially dangerous moves.
